View Full Version : Cosmos causing crash when talking to NPCs

Occasionally, when I am talking to an NPC, most frequently a quest NPC, the WoW app will crash to Desktop. If I re-log and try to talk to the same NPC again, I will continue to crash. However, if after crashing, I remove the "Interface" directory (with the Cosmos mods) from the game folder, I am able to talk to the NPC and continue playing normally.
Is this a known bug with WoW or with the Cosmos mod?
Should I include more data to help debug the problem?

I'm guessing more information may be helpful, as I use Cosmos daily and talk with NPCs, do quests, etc., etc., etc., for hours on end and some days never crash ever.
I would first suggest you consider changing the recast delay in Cosmos options to 3 seconds, then perform an /acsave.
You may also want to see if typing /acclear before talking with an NPC (when using Cosmos) gets rid of this problem. If it does, the problem is in the autocast/autobuff part (most likely).
Although a lot of people are wary of using an "alpha" version of Cosmos, you may want to uncheck the option to automatically launch WoW and then click the options button of the Cosmos startup program. This will let you change what version you want from release to "alpha."
Lastly, it may be that collecting thottbot data on your system for whatever reason is causing this crash. Go into the Cosmos options (esc menu in game) and turn off Thottbot features.
