Alex posted on WoW UI forums about a bug with CVars.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?FN=wow-interface-customization&T=4402&P=1&ReplyCount=6#post4402

(Admittedly this is Greek to me)

My problem exists with all downloads: alpha, beta and data only.

When I log in, the error box says: string interface\frameXML\thottbot.lua" }: 1843:attempted to register too many CVars. I cannot get this box off my screen.

When I open Cosmos Options, I cannot open the following sections: Quest share, tradeskill helper, kill log, sidebar options, DPS, or autotrade. Also, I cannot ok or cancel out of the options window, I can only escape out of it.

Is this the CVar problem that Alex posted about? Or... is there something else I need to delete from my WoW directory other than the interface file in order to start over?

EDIT: fixed a missing paranthesis

NOTE: Not a part of the Cosmos team.

Hmm... your error is strange. I've heard of it before, I think, but it should be resolved by patching to the latest version (by the way, the Cosmos Alpha (http://www.wowmods.com/cosmos/Cosmos_Alpha.zip) zip-file is almost as up to date as the patcher - it lags behind the patcher by an hour or so methinks).

The error might be caused if you use the release code, since that was created before Blizzard reduced the number of CVars that Cosmos could use.

I'd recommend you to follow the following checklist if you use the Cosmos patcher : Run the patcher (make sure it does not auto-run WoW, try this thread (http://forums.wowmods.com/viewtopic.php?t=82) if you need help with disabling that). Click the "Configure" button. Make sure that "Cosmos Alpha (SVN mirror)" is selected in the "Set Cosmos distribution". Click the "Reset UI" button. Rename the "Interface" directory to something else (if it still exists). This will reset all your bindings. Click the "OK" button. Click the "Exit" button. Re-run Cosmos. Run WoW after Cosmos is done patching. See if you get the same error, and if so, post back with what the error box says (preferably in this thread). If you don't get an error, post that it here, too - I like success stories as much as the next person! :)

If you do not use the Cosmos patcher, follow these steps: Rename the "Interface" directory to something different. Download the Cosmos Alpha (http://www.wowmods.com/cosmos/Cosmos_Alpha.zip) and unpack it into your "World of Warcraft" directory (make sure that your unpacker has created an "Interface" directory). See if you get the same error, and if so, post back with what the error box says (preferably in this thread). If you don't get an error, post that it here, too.

Hope to be hearing from you (and even more fervently with the hope that this fixes your problem). :)
