OK, I heard about Cosmos last night. I went to the site, and downloaded it. Should I put it in my WoW folder? I don't want to mess anything up. Any help would be appreciated.
NOTE: Cosmos***** does download files from the net, and it puts them in the Interface directory (creating one if you do not have one) in the WoW directory.
Basically, put the Cosmos***** in your WoW folder, then run Cosmos*****.
Choose Configure.
Choose Alpha or Beta (Alpha is the most recent version, it is frequently updated - several times per day - and can contain bugs, Beta is a somewhat more stable snapshot - I'd suggest that you try Alpha first then try the Beta if the Alpha does not work). Re-run Cosmos*****.
Run WoW (you can do this from Cosmos*****).
Log in to your preferred character.
Press <ESC>.
Note the Cosmos Option menu choice - click it and set up Cosmos to your liking.
Use /chelp in the chat box to receive instructions on the slash commands that cosmos has installed for you. Also, note the "C" at your minimap? Click that for even more Cosmos goodies. :)
Post here if you encounter problems.

Mac version ????
You can just copy the files to your Interface directory.
There's no official Mac Patcher, though a couple of guys wrote an AppleScript that does it for you. (Search the WoW interface forums)
do i copy the cosmos***** file that i cant open or each xml addon to the inerface
You need to extract the Interface directory from the zip files and put that in your WoW directory. That's all. Everything else is optional, AFAIK.

So ive downloaded Cosmos and trying to install it. However, i enconter several errors.
1. It says my xml files are out of date and i can either chose to delete them, or exit the game. ( only one that works is cosmos light.
2. When im in game i can't chat, the only "channel" that works is say.
3. The Cosmos UI button at the minimap doesnt show up, and when i try to click the one in "settings" nothing happens.
Any help would be appreciated.
The current Cosmos Alpha is for the US release... the EU release lags behind a while I think.

Try that (don't forget to clean your Interface directory first!).

I'm writing from Europe and I was about to ask the same question: "how comes it says my interface is out of date?".
Thanks for the answer: I'll have my (your!) cosmos back tonite after a couple sessions of pain!
On a side note: earlier this morning Eu servers should have patched, so I guess there wouldn't be any need for a different version, would it?
(sry: gave a general error and made three posts of one)
Yes, by now WoW US / EU should be synched.
So use the "real" Cosmos :)

It wasn't clear to me from reading this thread initially, so I'm posting to clear it up for the next unfortunate soul to walk my path.
The best way to install is outlined above. Copy cosmos***** across and run it. That gets the freshest version of cosmos.
Sometimes, the servers will be down and you'll see only "None" instead of the usual Alpha/Beta/thottbot-only options. That means the servers are down.
At that time you can unpack the files from the zipfile of your choice directly into your World of Warcraft directory.

I posted this earlire on the support forum, so sorry if it seems that I am repeating myself.
How do I stop the auto run feature? A previous post said that you need to change some information in the Registry Key. Where do I find the Registry Key?
Please help me.....
Badpanda, check out this thread (http://www.cosmosui.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=82).

I think there should be a "how to install" page right off the site. Haveing to run around and search though the forums is a pain in the arse.

I haven't been able to upload a profile to Thottbot either.
However, my cosmos***** was dated 11-28-04 and the patcher stopped working. I upgraded to the current one (12-06-04) using these instructions:
http://www.fukt.bth.se/~k/wow/cosmos/oldcosmos/readme.txt
I hope I have a Thottbot profile soon!

Yeah, I was able to update my profile on thottbot before, but lately, it hasn't been updating. I have the newest version of cosmos, and I do see it say something about Thottbot data uploading, but my profile won't update. Can someone help me out?

couple of questions:
1. is cosmos completely contained in the interface directory?
2. does it overwrite any existing WoW files?
3. is there an uninstall process?
1. is cosmos completely contained in the interface directory?
Yes and no. Cosmos code files are in the Interface directory, it saves data in WTF, too (using Blizzard functions).
2. does it overwrite any existing WoW files?
No.
3. is there an uninstall process?
Yes. Uninstall button in Cosmos***** (don't use that right now) or just manually delete Interface. Delete WTF if you want to really get rid of anything Cosmos-y.

I just unzipped it into a new directory (c:\cosmos) and right clicked on cosmos***** to send a shortcut to the desktop, and thats how I run it.
Seems to work fine.

I think the EU update has messed something up, ive tried the EU zipfile linked in this thread, but its still saying its out of date when i log in :(
Either use the Cosmos from Curse or use this one:
http://www.fukt.bth.se/~k/wow/stuff/Cosmos_Sarf_Scorned_v0.08-test.zip
-or-
http://www.fukt.bth.se/~k/wow/stuff/
and take the most recent Cosmos_Sarf_Scorned_ version.
Note that this is the version my guild uses, and not based on the most recent Cosmos build. It also includes LootLink and other stuff.
