0.08 - new interface version
0.07 - contained revamp of /tt command. It will now send a message to the current target.
0.06 - was just new Cosmos compatibility patch plus upgrading the interface number.
0.05 - added slash commands - /tt, /telltarget, /tellt and /ttarget should all work now.

Hiya!

Yet another minimod by yours truly.

This mod creates a new binding that, when used, automatically fills in your chat edit box with the name of the currently targeted individual player.

It also adds slash commands that should work fine.

Hopefully it works, but post any comments/feedback here.

How does it work? :)

Basically, you bind a key to the TellTarget binding.

When you press that you, it's like you replied to the person you have targeted (e.g. the tell is directed at them and the chat edit box is shown).

Ehm... well, basically it does this.

Say you see LocoTheMinorGodOfSomethingReallyNastyAndAwfulAndSt uff farm nearby, and you want to ask him/her/it to join up to smite the nasty Goblin Froggers you're whacking, but you don't want to disturb the rest of the hundreds of players with your talk. Rather than typing in a long and boring name, you target Loco... and press your key that you have bound to TellTarget.

With a magic sprinkling of faerie dust, you now are whispering to Loco... and you can ask him/her/it if he/she/it wants to join up.

Ohhh. So I have to go into keybindings and maybe under chat I'd see a 'TellTarget' unbound and I just pick a key? I'll try it :)

Can't you just set up a macro that says:

/tell %t Wanna group?


According to this page (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/basics/macros.shtml): you can use "%t" in your macro text to insert the targeted monster, creature, player that you wish to be inserted in your sentence. For example, "/say Hi %t" will say "Hi Nebu" if you have the player Nebu selected.

Yes, you could, but someone wanted a feature that was like a reply but to the targeted person. Basically, when you want to chat with the person in question, and when you want to say different things to them.

I haven't gotten this to work w/ the newest version, but this is a very helpful tool. Is it possible to add this to Cosmos for good or confirm that it doesn't work atm. Thanks

Not work for me too.
And "/w %t test" don't work - "No player named %t".
But "/s Hi %t" works fine.

Can this addon be used as a stand-alone? I would like to use this addon without installing all of Cosmos. So far I havent been able to get it to work. Thanks in advance.

Just give yourself a break and install Cosmos. I can't imagine playing wow without it! :D

Sarf stated that it is optionally dependent on Cosmos. So you should be able to use it without Cosmos (a "manual" is found here: http://www.wowwiki.com/TellTarget)

Currently, it only supports EU version. You can update it's toc manually (4062 -> 4114) for the US version.

Change ## Interface: 4062 to 4114.
