I am curious as to why Cosmos is distributed as a ***** file. Is that simply to have an installer around the text .xml files (and interface graphic files)? If that is the case I would really like to help you guys out in possibly porting the current build and future builds to the Mac.
(I will be getting my invite to join the Closed Beta this week from my contact at work)
Let me know if you would be interested in the help.
Thanks,
Randy Overbeck
The patcher is actually mostly to be able to upload data (currently only ThottBot data is uploaded) as well as provide a less bandwidth-intensive alternative than re-downloading the zip files (which you can do here (http://www.cosmosui.org/cosmos/)).
There are some rumblings about porting the patcher to the Mac.
However, I think it would be neat to have an installer for Cosmos - some people are unsure where the zip files should be unpacked, for example - so if you wanted to make an installer that could install a zip file (where it should end up) so that it could be used by Mac-users, more power to you (and us, and especially the Mac owners). Please PM me if you do, so I can put up a sticky thread and throw out a news item.
Of course, you'll be awarded the "Gold Star of Uber-Niceness" if you made it so that the user can simply click on a wanted Cosmos distro and it would be downloaded to them and then unzipped (you can find out when the alpha changes by getting the current version information from this file (http://www.cosmosui.org/texts/alpha.txt), I think). :)
NOTE: As far as I know, Cosmos used on a Mac has no more issues than Cosmos used on a PC. The lua/xml files are indeed the same, as you noted.
