If I'm in a raid of 3 parties from my guild, I want to be able to drop heals and buffs on the members of all three (or more theoretically) parties. Right now, I have to visually find them and click on them to A) check their health/mana/buff status or B) cast anything on them. That sucks. I want to be able to keep track of everyone in the raid using my interface.

Here's the way I envision it:

Beneath my status bar, there is a drop-down menu of the party leaders' names. By choosing one, I'd select that group for view and am able to keep track of them and cast on them as if they were in my own group.

Ok, so I dream big.

Is it doable?

Not without support from Blizzard. As I do not have access to the UI, I'm not sure, but I thought there would be some support for raid-size groups?

Anyhow, what it boils down to is that we UI coders can't target people by name for you (as far as I know). If we could do that, we could (rather easily) do something like what you describe.

However, if all you want is a "Raid Members Status Bars", it is certainly possible to code. At the moment, with the broken chat channel code in Cosmos, it would be a bit bandwidth intensive (relatively speaking), but it could be done.

Please ask more questions / suggest more AddOns though!

I recently found out that you can indeed target other people by their name.

I'm not infallible, it seems. :)

Anyhow, Raid Party Helper is now a bit more likely to become a reality as Mugendai has been diligently whacking away at the chat channel code, too.
