Please remove DPSPLUS Config options "Display Player Combat Messages" and "Display Party Combat Messgages", which already exist within the Combat Log options tabs. Users shouldn't have to enable two options (one of which doesn't intuitively involve the Combat Log) to ensure melee damage messages are displayed, especially if these two options aren't linked together (enabling Combat Log -> Combat Messages -> Your Hits does not enable "Display Player Combat Messages" and vice versa).
I'll see what I can do, however, the DPSPLUS mod is not directly a part of Cosmos. Perhaps we could disable those options if Cosmos is present?
Hmm... this bears thinking on.
By the way, does this option mean you can turn on the combat log message thingy in two places or that you HAVE to turn on the message thingy in two places?
EDIT:
I see what it does now.
A compromise would be to default it to "not eating" those messages?

yep

that would be a good start. The best approach would be to remove the option or ensure its linked to the Combat Log option; I shouldnt have to ensure two options are checked because someone decided to duplicate a default UI option toggle.
I spent all day Saturday assuming this was a new patch bug (not melee damage reports in Comat Log) b/c I hadn't seen this new unintuitive toggle.

Question: Do you practice being obscure, or is this a natural gift? :)
If I ask "is the situation like A or is it like B?", being told "yes" does not communicate much information to me.

Well, I'm sure the author of DPSPLUS didn't know about the Combat Log option - by the way, the Combat Log is a Blizzard thing, not another AddOn, is it? If it is another AddOn, there's no way the author of DPSPLUS could know about this. Anyhow... defaulting options like this to a behaviour which is unlike the normal UI is a bad thing. It'll get fixed. I posted a bug on the Bugzilla tracker for this:

OK. As soon as I find out where this Combat Log option thingy is, I'll see if it is possible to do some sort of synchronizing of options.
It just struck me that you might be talking about the Combat Log chat filter - if so, then making DPSPLUS interact with it might be hard.
The main reason the author added this is probably that he did not want/know of the Combat Log option, as stated before.
