View Full Version : Player stats, hp/mana

Is it currently possible to move the hp/mana stats outside the bars? I play a priest, and the hp ratio is a godsend for efficiency (no more wondering if I'm overhealing or underhealing). However, it makes it a little harder to notice someone going down in health. The numbers get in the way of the green bar, and make it less visible. I haven't had a real problem with it yet, but I've only been in one instance (wailing caverns) so far. The biggest problem has been my own health bar, I'm so focused on the 4 below me, that I don't notice my own going down.
Anyways, just wondering if there is some way to move the numbers or if you could make a tool to do so.
It might be possible to do - in fact it is likely - but would require some GUI recoding... currently, the text is associated directly with the bars themselves.

I think it'd be a great feature if you could do it :-)

I second that. I also noticed that it is very difficult to see both of them together without squinting.Haveing the % to the right of the health/mana bars would be really useful.
Well... I guess I'd better get on it, then. :)
Thing is, how the UI looks is highly dependent on what resolution you run. For instance, I run at 1024x768 (yeah, yeah, blame it on my Radeon 8500) and while the text on party members is small and all, it's not that small at my resolution... well, anyhow, this probably means I'll have to do a slider of some sort and implement a number of texts with different sizes.
I'll see what I can get done tonight.

Always good to hear! I look forward to an update!

Yea, it seems like most people don't say anything, cause it's really only something a primary healer would pay much attention to.
But, hey make our jobs easier and we keep you alive more ;)
OK, really sorry about this, but the patch pranced into my schedule and... uhm... did nasty things to it. I'll try to get something like this working by Thursday, but I have to get my older AddOns up and working first (hope you understand my reasoning) as well as do quite a bit of school work I have been putting off for the last week. :(
In the good news is the fact that it doesn't seem to be quite that hard.
It will probably mostly be spent debugging why the text does not stick to certain positions, but...

Hey, you've got a third eye! Uh, never mind... it's just a spot of dirt in the middle of your forehead.
Test the new unofficial version here :

Please post bugs and stuff about the AddOn here and not all over the place.
Note: you have to use /textbarrightenable to activate it.

I'm having a problem.. I haven't added any AddOns before, so maybe I did something wrong. I just extracted the TextBarRight folder into my AddOn folder.
Anyways, I load up game and get an error about Cosmos Registry configuration error: duplicate configuration
COS_TEXTBARRIGHT_ENABLE
All my zip files are meant to be unzipped into your WoW directory. They contain paths so that the files end up where they should be that way.
However, I'll look into that bug tomorrow.

That code is fixed on my computer (read: the bug you talk about does not appear) however, it needs to be tested more.
Now, if I only could get some groups...

i enabled it and saw the text then went and changed the font size to huge. the small, default font is still there along with the larger size.
the larger size is the one that updates but the smaller text is sorta "burned in". its still being displayed. wish i could show a picture :[
Be sure to try the latest version of TextBarRight, I've made some changes to it a while ago.
Anyhow... it is currently in abeyance, pending evaluation of making a new party frame for healers and people that like more control.

I know you said all work is on hold, but I just thought I'd let you know I tried using it again. It ALMOST worked. Sometimes, if I enabled party health/mana first, when I enabled textbarright, it wouldn't work at all. Or, if I disabled and then reenabled textbarright, it would work for a bit. However, if I mouseover the info, it disappeared, and would also disappear after a few moments either way. Sometimes, it would show up for me, but not for other group members, or viceversa. Also, when I had party health/mana enabled and then enabled textbarright, and then disabled party health/mana it wouldn't go away (the numbers inside the bars).
The placement and everything was great. If it hadn't been so random and buggy, it would have been perfect. When it worked for about 5 minutes on myself, it was exactly what I wanted. My color health bar was much more noticeable, but I could still look at the number to determine what heal to use.
Umm... TextBarRight is still in testing. The question is whether it'll ever be finished, as I am considering doing another AddOn, which would be sort of a replacement of the party member frames.
I'll see when I can get the gumption to code TextBarRight again. Unfortunately, without access to a working WoW, it's slow development.
