Hello,
You can find a manual here:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Map_Notes
28. Oktober 2004
because you can't use CTmod together with Cosmos there was the question for something like their MapMod on this forum. So here is my version. It's coded from the scratch (only one idea (not the idea for such a mod, this one I had seeing the monitor of a friend in the Streestest. It was full of black dots ;-) ) comes from CTmod - how to handle the clicks - I've used only the idea and coded it in a little other way).
09. November 2004
Here is the first bigger Update... New features are marked below
13. November 2004
Some updates / bugfixes...
14. November 2004
Small bugfix, when Carto+ isn't present
16. November 2004
Works with the new CartoPlus, fixed a nil error, when receiving notes, doesn't interact with the WorldMapZoom if there is a position signal, two new slash commands for creating notes from chat.
17. November 2004
Added support to send and receive notes without cosmos. Updated for the new patch...
08. December 2004
Updated for the new patch, also major changes to the send and receive system.
10. December 2004
Fixed a small error.
20. December 2004
You can now connect note with lines.
FEATURES:
Create up to 100 notes per zone Use 10 styles of notes Have three lines of text for every note Color each of these lines in one of 10 available colors Send and receive notes Copy/Paste slash commands, to send notes outside of WoW MiniNote - Show a note on the Minimap Highlight the note last created and the one set as MiniNote Options Menu - Choose which notes to show Slash commands to influence the behavior when receiving notes Minimum distance between two notes Automatically imports Carto+ Notes, if you don't want this, please send me a PM and I'll up another version for you. Create notes from chat. Send and receive notes without cosmos
Changes:
Works with the new patch. You must now double click the map to open the menu. Completely new send format (easier debugging and it's in Cosmos now, so no need to keep it compatible to Carto+, this also means it is not comatible with older Map Notes versions) New feature: Party Note. Shift + Left Click the map to set a note, that all your party members can see, and automatically have set it as the MiniNote (this can be turned off in the options) - (This works only if you and your party members have Cosmos.)0.4.0 --> 0.4.1 Quicktloc works now in the standalone version. You shouldn't see the whispertest when sending notes toc file updated to new blizzard standart0.4.1 -> 0.4.3 Some bugfixes in the send system
Get it on the Wiki! (http://www.wowwiki.com/Map_Notes)
(Please do always keep copy your "SavedVariables.lua" from "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\-AccountName-", so that you have a backup of your notes.)
Hmm... oOOpsie.
I guess I didn't mention that vjeux committed CartoPlus to Cosmos earlier today. :)
I'll check it out though!
Nice work!

Would have been to late for me anyway... but the coding is the fun, isn't it?
vjeux has to do some reordering (have never used bugzilla and don't want to start right now):

Thanks for the heads up!
Added it to Bugzilla.

Can i take your icons ? there are better than mine :)

Hey, let's make a deal:
You take my icons and allow me to instert code so that my mod can receive notes from Carto+ users (or better receive from and send to) ??
If you don't allow me to do this you can take them anyway...

Do what you want in your mod (which is great :p), i just want your icons. It would be great if you could use the same "send"/"receive" as me, that's better for all :)

Take them...
Is it right, that I can put my color information behind your `id`, and your mod will ignore this?

Hello,
because you can't use CTmod together with Cosmos
Just to clarify this statement.. I've been using CTmod and Cosmos together for ohhh about a month or two now without any noticible problems.
The only thing you have to remember to do is tell Cosmos NOT to clean the directories when it patches.
I'm not sure i use all of CTmods functions, but I can vouch that Map notes, Bag names, the toolbars all work just fine. (Of course it looks funny if you turn on both CT and Cosmos bars at the same time :P)
I'll have to check out this mod once the servers come back, but if it works well then that's one less thing of ctmod that i'll need to use. (Not that CTmod is bad, but as a programer I find integrated tools so much more user friendly)

I havn't ever tried them together, so I can't say for sure that it wasn't impossible, but many users have reported problems...
I've taken the download down, because I will make some changes in the format the Notes are stored (I need to do this for a new feature I havn't thought of, when I decided to do it the way it was).

but havn't downloaded the latest Version yet, so I don't know if it's gone already...

I think that should not be a problem if you put your color codes after the last ` :)

If I use the same format to send notes as carto+ then (if I only copy my mod in the Interface/AddOns/) both mod will process incoming notes. Is there any easy way to stop this without editing or deleting carto+? (Maybe I can simply override the "Cosmos_RegisterChatWatch" from carto+ by unsing the same ID?)

You can do :
if (CartoPlus_ProcessMessage) then
function CartoPlus_ProcessMessage() end

I dosen't work, because I took it down (making changes that would make all the notes incompatible) I hope to get the new version ready in a day or two. You can still use Carto+, which is another mod, to allow you notes on the map (comes with cosmos, if you already have cosmos, than double click on your map)...

Try right/left clicking on your Map.
Carto+ is currently not possible to enable/disable (well, outside of my 'puter that is).

Could you please tell, which mod u have the problem with (my new Map Notes or Carto+ from Cosmos), because right now, I don't know, if you are the Guest, which has posted erlier...
If you refer to the Map Notes then please make sure, u extracted the files correctly. There should be a folder named "MapNotes" in "World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns\" with the files in it.

Yes, it only saves the notes when you log out or quit to the SavedVariables.lus (this is up to blizzard, i don't think there can be done anything about this in any mod)
And yes the minimap note isn't deleted automatically when you delete the note it came from. You can turn it off, by using the option in the menu (left click) or type /mno (/mininoteoff) - this is, because I like it so better (it enables me to create a note, set it as mininote and the delete it)...
Only one MiniNote can be up at a time, this is mainly because to keep the menu's simple and because I don't know, how much performance it takes to calculate the position... but to have more notes (max of 5?) is something I will try out

The mod should work with Carto+ installed (I haven't removed it on my installation... so yes it does work for me at least) all the carto+ notes should still be visible, although you can only use the carto+ features on them and you won't be able to create other carto+ notes

After installing this addon, I can no longer map points using /tloc ##,##.
Could you make a new /command to map a point like that (using the new/advanced point mapping)?
thanks, great mod!

I don't know, why the tloc command dosn't work together with MapNotes. Because it isn't fun to find out (Thott renamed all variables, so that copying his code isn't so easy) I can't look into it.... however I have acted on your advice and made a new slash command: "/mntloc xx,yy" which shows you the coordinates on the map. Use "/mntloc" with no argument or the "Delete"-Button (right click) and it will delete the location marker. You can also set is as a MiniNote (right click) and turn it into a note (left click - new note) - be sure that the correct map is shown, when doing this, cause tloc coorinates don't carry the information on which map they are...
And here it is:
MapNotes 0.2.1 (http://ezshare.de/files-en/61308/MapNotes_0.2.1.zip.html)
Please do always make backups of the "SavedVariavles.lua" in your "WTF/Account/-Accountname-" folder to make sure u won't loose your notes

If you like, you can put MapNotes in Cosmos... Importing is possible (function is ready), but there is one thing (that is also a bug, when MapNotes receives a note from Carto+, havn't noticed before):
When Carto+ notes have word wraps (pushing enter in your editbox) then the notes are shown up correctly but, you can't edit the line anymore, and you can crash WoW hitting backspace when the editbox is empty. Is there a way to remove the line wraps??

This was me (again)...
If your considering using MapNotes in Cosmos, please keep in mind, that it interferes with the WorldMapFrame when the MiniNote is enabled, this could break up thott's data collection, if he uses the function without setting it to zoom in the correct zone, before gathering the data, but because thottbot has worked together with target distance, which did something similar, this may not be a problem...
Sir.Bender

Updated.
I also found out how to kill the linebreaks, so the whole import function should not be able the break the client anymore...

Hello,
14. November 2003
Small bugfis, when Carto+ isn't present...
FEATURES:
Create up to 100 notes per zone Use 10 styles of notes Have three lines of text for every note Color each of these lines in one of 10 available colors Send and receive notes, when cosmos is installed. Copy/Paste slash commands, to send notes outside of WoW MiniNote - Show a note on the Minimap Highlight the note last created and the one set as MiniNote Options Menu - Choose which notes to show Slash commands to influence the behavior when receiving notes NEW! Minimum distance between two notes NEW! Automatically imports Carto+ Notes, if you don't want this, please send me a PM and I'll up another version for you.
TO DO LIST (KNOWN BUGS):
Create Notes from the chat / through Macros
BUGFIXES (WORKAROUNDS):
MiniNote shows up correctly on the Minimap regardless where you are. /tloc isn't working with MapNotes, created /mntloc, which shows you a note on the map that can be set as MiniNote or turned into a New Note. Fixed a bug, that could break up the edit frame, when receiving Notes from Carto+
USE:
Left click to open the New Note Menu (even works clicking on player, this gives the most accurate position on the Minimap, when using the note as MiniNote) Left click to get to the Options Menu an to turn the MiniNote off Right click on a note to Edit / Delete / Send this note Right click on a note to set it as MiniNote Generated "/mapnote" slash command is found under the Send Menu Move the cursor over a note to see the tooltip
AVAILABLE SLASH COMMANDS:
/mapnote:
Only used to insert a Map Note, for example you can use "/mapnote 210`0.320701`0.491480`Stormwind City`Entrance``1`0`Meog`2`0`0`" (without the quotes) to get a note for the Entrance of Stormwind City on the map Elwyn Forrest /onenote, /allowonenote, /aon:
Allows you to receive the next note, even if you have disabled receiving in the options /nextmininote, /nextMiniNote, /nmn:
Shows the next note you receive or insert by the slash command as MiniNote and insterts it in the map /nextmininoteonly, /nextMiniNoteOnly, /nmno:
Like the one before, but doesn't instert the note into the map. /mininoteoff, /MiniNoteOff, /mno:
Turns the MiniNote off /mntloc xx,yy:
Set and Thottbot location on the map. Use it without argument to turn it off.
If you want, please try it out (again) and report back, if it works correctly.
MapNotes_0.2.3.zip (http://ezshare.de/files-en/65360/MapNotes_0.2.3.zip.html)

Do you mean exactly the same function (which is at the moment bound to "Create New Note") should be called by the "Edit"-button instead of the "Create New Note"? If this is, what you mean: I will think about it... shouldn't be too hard and is more userfriendly in this respect, that's , but on the other hand you create a new note...
i mean cutrent;y you save diferen mode the mntlocc added icons
i mean should be
same way save so edit function can be used
sample
[1] = {
["creator"] = "mntloc",
["inf1"] = "",
["inf2"] = "",

["yPos"] = 0.675198,
["in1c"] = 0,
["icon"] = number of icontloc,
my idea maybe this

Like a Quicknote on the map on which you currently are... This is (already) on my todo list, it's not included right now, because you left the tricky part:
How to get zone and continent??
This is important, because (to be user friendly) you need to change some other parts of the code (at least one out of two options):
1. Change the MapNotes_OnUpdate() function, so that it doesn't interfere with the WorldMapZoom.
2. Get the zonename by the function, that is used for the fading when entering a zone (don't remember it right now), this returns a string and hast to be converted in the correct numbers...
This is due to thottbot locations don't carry information on which map they are and because the MiniNote interferes with the WorldMapZoom. But this feature is planned (this is nearly the same as "instert a note by chat on the actual position").
forgot two things:["creator"] = "mntloc",You should insert the UserName("player") here...
["icon"] = number of icontloc,It has the 'number' "tloc" ;) so you can't save a note with this icon as a normal note, it would break the other functions. Simply take one of the others...
Alwyas god to known what is your plans
Perhaps if need any testing help contact me
i give you exact bugreport
and usually i give my all ideas maybe you can use any from them as full or as inspiritaion for other things

Line 239 of MapNotes.lua
Bad argument #1 to "strupper" (string expected, got nil)
Thanks for the bug report.
But I can't figure out, what happend... in line 239 is no strupper, the only time it is used, is when checking, if the note send through the cosmos channel is for you or not (line 352)... so I have a few questions:
1. Does it occour, when you do something spezific or while you are gaming?
2. Did it happen more than once?
Thanks in advance for the reply...
Thinking about it a little longer brings me to the solution (if your linenumer was wrong, but as I said, I used the command only in one line):
When somebody sends a note to a player without filling in the player name, this error can occour. ....I'll integrate a check for this, will be fixed soon (vjeux has added new note types, so there are also some changes in the receiving part, I gonna release both together)

i = i + 1;
end

I must be using a different version, maybe the Cosmos Alpha is different? But it shows up on the right line in my code. Above is part of the function that it is in.

Using the latest build along with the alpha versin of Cosmos, through the downloader, I get a performance bug. If I have any MiniNotes turned on, any one of several things will cause my system to hang momentarily:
1) Mousing anything that interacts with the cursor.
2) Targeting anything.
3) Toggling mouse look.

There may be, and probably are, other things that cause it, but these are the primary ones I noticed. It's irritating to the point here I don't use MiniNotes anymore.
I can't reproduce any of these errors on my system, which make it kind of impossible for me to check what this is causing. I'll think about it...

Thanks for the report...
Version 0.3 is in the first post, added new slash commands and the WorldMapZoom doesn't change when there is a map signal (and if there is none, it's only changed to the zone you are in), so it shouldn't interfere with any other mod's that are getting data from the WorldMap.

I've updated the AddOn for the latest patch. The only thing changed is the interface number, looking at the changes (thanks go to AlexYoshi) nothing should affect this AddOn. However its untested in this form and I encourage you to make a backup copy of your "SavedVariables.lua" in "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\-AccountName-", because if MapNotes doesn't load up correctly, then all your notes will be lost (this is also the case, if MapNotes isn't updated for a new Patch, cause then it doesn't get loaded at all.)

I can't seem to make more than one MiniNote at a time, is this intentional, a bug, or am I doing something wrong?
This is intentional... Best thing to explain it would be "I've coded it so"... This has a few reasons:
1. I don't have really checked how much systempower the MiniNote takes.
2. It's easier to manage (less menus in the GUI).
But feel free to make suggestions, especially please describe in what situation you need more than one MiniNote...
DarthGreg

I don't suppose I ever need more than one mininote, but there are definitely times where more than one would be useful. For instance, when I'm headed somewhere for a quest, and I know where I need to go, I like to set a mininote on that location so I can pretty much cruise there without popping in and out of my world map. At the same time, it would be nice having permament mininotes at places of note. I've got a mid-20's level Orc, which puts me in the Barrens quite a bit. It would be very nice to have permanent mininotes on Crossroads and Ratchet, as well as the entrances/exits to other zones like Ashenvale, Thousand Needles, Mulgore, and Stonetalon Mountains. This is maybe a little excessive, but these are the sorts of situations I would love the ability to have multiple mininotes for.
I did a little more testing about the targetting system hang issue, and found that with the new version it seems to only happen to me on elites. At first I thought it only happened in instances, namely in Ragefire and Wailing Caverns, but today saw that it also happens on the elites before the actual instance in WC. Will do a little more testing tonight before the beta ends.

Hey Meog, this is Alarik from the WoW Forums. I have ran into two bugs with Map Notes. The first I described in the post with the mini-notes not going away after deleting the related Note. I passed this off as a feature after reading the description on WoWWiki, but there's more to it. My friend made me a note weeks ago for Ursal the mauler on Teldrassil and sent it to me. I mini-noted it and deleted it after the quest. The problem is after all this time I still randomly see the Ursal the Mauler mini-note show up on my minimap even when I'm on The Eastern Kingdoms continent 8\
The other bug I have run into is not being able to left click and create a note in some areas of some zones. The Cenarian Enclave in Darnassus is one example. Also the Rougue Quarter of Under City. As a work around, I end up running there and creating a note at my location by clicking my Character Icon on the map. There was another area in Westfall that did it too but I can't remember where exactly.
Anyway that's it, hope you can help and Thanks!

To the first: have you hidden the Mininote by turning is off, either with the slash command "/mno" or with the menu: left click - turn mininote off? (after knowing this, I'll look into it, but I want to know where to start - I think you havn't turned it off - so the mininote is still present and MapNotes tries to show it, but since you are on the other continent at the moment it autohides the note automatically).
The second one can't be this easy. This is because Blizzard made these maps in the whole clickable and so every click on the map causes a zone change. However there are workarounds possible (disabling this "left click zone change for this zones") but in most cases you only want to mark in the place you are actually standing, so I think this is not so tragical. (Or is it really annoying to you?)

Thanks for the reply. I will try turning off that mininote with a slash command and report back. I will also try turning off the "left click to change zone" thingy.
The reason the 2nd problem is so irritating for me is I have lower level friends that I talk with on TeamSpeak that are doing lower level quests. So the main feature we use on MapNotes is sending Notes back and forth when they can't find something. In 99% of those cases I am in an entirely different zone.
Maybe we're some of the few that use it for that, but I thought I'd let you know. The Mod is awesome though and we use it CONSTANTLY.
Also heard last night over TS ws "You know, out of everything that's been customized for WoW, MapNotes has to be the best by far."
So you've got some fans out there, keep up the good work :)

Thanks, I'll give by best.
I will also try turning off the "left click to change zone" thingy.
You can't simply turn ist off... there is no option for this. But you can try to edit the mapnotes.lua (of course I can do it, but so you can choose for which zones you disable it ;) )
on line 1335 you find:
-- Map Notes Begin Insert [ 2/ 5]
local oldzone = GetCurrentMapZone();
if (MapNotes_BlockingFrame()) then
-- Map Notes End Insert [ 2/ 5]
you can edit it to this:
-- Map Notes Begin Insert [ 2/ 5]
local oldzone = GetCurrentMapZone();
local continent = GetCurrentMapContinent();
if (MapNotes_BlockingFrame() and not (continent == 2 and oldzone == 17) and not (continent == 2 and oldzone == 12)) then
-- Map Notes End Insert [ 2/ 5]
The continents and zones are numbered as they appear in the drop down menus and this should block left clicks in ironforge and stormwind. However I havn't tested it, so there may be errors... to have more (or less) zones simply add (remove) the
and not (continent == 2 and oldzone == 17)
blocks.

I quote my myself from the first post:
(Please do always keep copy your "SavedVariables.lua" from "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\-AccountName-", so that you have a backup of your notes.)
So all your notes are gone, if you don't have a backup (this is caused by the WoW client and how it handes saved data when the mod isn't present.) And there will be an update (got back from uni right now and saw there is a patch ;) )

When I had my interface deleted because of the patch, I re-installed Cosmos with fixes. I still had my original (pre-patch but with Cosmos installed) WTF and WBD (or DB) folders, but I lost my Map Notes. What file(s) contain the notes? My understanding is it's something in the WTF folder (which makes me wonder why mine are missing).

Three posts over you is the answer:
(Please do always keep copy your "SavedVariables.lua" from "World of Warcraft\WTF\Account\-AccountName-", so that you have a backup of your notes.)
WoW automatically makes a backup of this file "SavedVariables.lua.old" you can try this one, if they arn't in the current one (howerver I got this tip out of the official forums right now and don't know when this file is created / overwritten.)

I don't know everything about the chat system, but (single) notes are send through whispser and should always be received. Does there a error occour when you send notes to them? (because prior to 0.4.3 - uploaded five minutes ago - the send system wasn't fully functional) It would be nice, if you could all get the newest version and then report back if there is still the same error. (PMs ever work on this site?)
I'm using one of the more recent versions of Cosmos. I note that I have Add-On folders for both Carto+ and MapNotes, but the "default" must be Carto+. My understanding is MapNotes will import Carto+ notes?
Anyway, my main question is how can I "disable" Carto+ and use MapNotes? Your mod seems to have much more functionality... Ideally, once MapNotes is enabled, I assume I can delete the Carto+ Add-On folder?
Last question, if I did want to start clean and "delete" any old Carto+ notes, is there a file that I could delete without messing anything else up? Or could the file be manually edited to remove the Carto+ information?
Sir.Bender
12-14-2004, 12:05 AM
The problem with the most recent version is the 24h rule... only if nobody changes the SVN (where we all upload our changes) for 24h then a new version is released...... so:
1. In the next Verison the Carto+ folder won't be there.
2. Carto+ is disabled if you play on US servers because of the patch. so you don't have to worry, if the folder is there or not, it doesn't get loaded.
3. MapNotes automatically imports Carto+ notes.... (this is the only way it makes sense, when changing to another mod, because most people don't want to delete their notes.)
4. You could manually delete the structure "MapNotes_Data" in "<WoW>\WTF\Account\<Accountname>\SavedVariables.lua" or you can try another way, however this is completly untested (do it on your own risk...)::
/script MapNotes_Data = nil; ReloadUI();
Sending and receiving should work with this version, but doesn't with the version currently in cosmos (see above - 24h rule).

What about having automatic mininotes, something where the 5 map notes closest to you are allways displayed on the minimap.

Nice idea - but there are some things you have to manage and it requires some complicated code (someone tried it already using the Map Notes MiniNote code, but with other data, but I'm not a fan of this solution, cause there are some unresolved problems....) but recoding the whole MiniNote thing to make it more comfortable is on the ToDo list.

I too have lost the ability to use /tloc in this version. I never have used /mntloc. I think this happened after I loaded up gatherer as I use this as well.
Also, any plans to change the way the mod behaves in Stormwind, Origrimmer, Ironforge? I would really like to put notes all over those maps, but evertime I left click to add, it takes me up a lvl. I read a previous post about modifying the lua, but that's probably beyond my meager skills. :)
Also, it seems to be a problem in all the Capitol Cities.

No /tloc is killed by MapNotes :(. You can set notes in capital cities by clicking on the playericon (only where you are standing). Hope this helps a bit (the zoom out in capital cities is a Blizzard thing and MapNotes shouldn't interfere too much with the functionality provides by Blizzard).

Is there actually a way to share all map notes created? My guild would have some use for this. Player A tracks every mining deposit, Player B tracks herbalism spots -> they share map notes and combine both their results.
Maybe start with the save-files in the WTF folder? Is there a way?

Found a small bug in MapNotes 0.5.3.
When crossing continents the MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM event is called.
MapNotes_MiniNote_MapzoomInit is true by now, so MapNotes_MiniNote_IsInCity is toggled.
More often than not, this causes MapNotes_MiniNote_IsInCity to get out of synch with what's really happening so mininote scales get borked.
(I nearly had a heart-attack when my MiniMap addon for MapNotes and MapNotesGathering started showing strange things when i crossed continents :p)
EDIT: I'll post a fix if i have time, but i'll be a little tied up for the next few days.
EDIT2: Ok, the best fix for this seems to be to set MapNotes_MiniNote_MapzoomInit = false on the ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA event, since MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM is called before the zone and continent is correctly set.
replace line 851 in MapNotes.lua :
if (event == "MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM") then
with:
if (event == "ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA") then
MapNotes_MiniNote_MapzoomInit = false;
end
if (event == "MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM" or event == "ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA") then
and add:
this:RegisterEvent("ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA");
to MapNotesMiniNoteFrame.xml at around line 284.

Hey, thanks for the report and the nice solution, however I think I'll have to monitor the continent you are on, as I don't want the Minimap to "flicker" when walking from one zone to another :), will integrate something like this :)
`lugo
01-18-2005, 11:53 PM
I tried monitoring the continent first but MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM is sent twice when you hearthstone across continents (once for the continent change, once for being inside an inn).
Also MINIMAP_UPDATE_ZOOM is sent before the zone name is updated, GetZoneText() doesnt work then, and using GetCurrentMapContinent() is always risky.
I used ZONE_CHANGED_NEW_AREA since it is only called once. Funilly enough, at that point the zone name IS set correctly so you could check for a continent change there. I guess i was just too lazy to extent the fix to cover that :p

Hmm, so only a few cases open: If you are using the hearthstone "in_city" to another continent (where you'll be "in_city" because you're in an inn) is it only called once? if you travel by ship/zeppelin then it is also only called once (for continent change) and last but not least: does it behave the same way if you use portals or a warlock summons you?
If the event is only called once more everytime you change the continent, then the best solution would be to check for the continent (of course we'll have to use an event after the zonetext updates) and then only change this "one time it was triggered to often" back.
However there are still problems, if a warlock summens you cross continent in an instance :)

Cosmos***** updates you installation with the files currently on the cosmos servers, and removes any files that don't appear there.
It also privides a .nopatch mechanism to prevent removing mods that you have added yourself (more info on this can be found ... everywhere, i suggest the MapNotesGathering thread on the official UI forums).
It doesn't delete MapNotes from you SavedVariables.lua file, WOW does that when the mod that registered them is gone.
Judging by your previous post i'd say you had an outdated version of MapNotes, hence the error message.
Update your mods, and be sure to protect them with .nopatch if you plan to use the cosmos***** updater.

I have a weird problem with MapNotes 0.5.4 (from Curse website): Notes which are generated automatically are written on wrong map. This happens with notes send by other users or generated by mapnotes.target oder mapnotes.guard. The note is in the right place, but on a different map. So someone sends me a note for the AH in Ironforge, then it will be in the right position but on the map for the swamplands or whatever.
I dont know if that has anything to do with it but I am using the german wow client.
[quote="Delano"]So someone sends me a note for the AH in Ironforge, then it will be in the right position but on the map for the swamplands or whatever.

This may be caused by a bug in WoW, the map doesnt set correct after a ui reload.
Do you get this type of error after you reload ui (/rl) or the guy sending you a mapnote has made a ui reload maybe?

Ive lost my Map Notes in the current patch. I also did not get a chance to get my savedvariables.lua backed up. But I do have a copy of my old Interface, is there any way to restore my map notes from that?

Hi there... I posted this in the support section but didn;t get any response...
I have a problem with map notes..... they seam to be working .. . . almost.
Basicaly if I try to add a note, by double clicking then entering the info then hittign save NO NOTE apears??
BUT if I use the /mntloc xx,yy command that DOSE apear on the map???
IS there some / command that hides the notes from view on the map?
I have also tried turning off all the option saving , exit map, open map turn on all the map note options then save.. and still nothing.
I would be very happy for any help as I REALLY am dependent on this mod for getting round... finding spots for quests etc etc!!!
I am not alone with this prblem as I found this thread in support as well.. it also went unanswered.. ...

I've taken it upon myself to maintain it, please post any problems you have with it here or in the curse thread :)
This version is fairly similar to the current Cosmos version, except placing notes in IF works, and Sky support works for people without Cosmos installed.

Some of my notes have small green blocks instead of the actual icon. Happens with map notes gatherer too. Like just certain kinds of ores have green blocks instead of images. Any ideas how to fix it?

Just some of the icons? Randomly, or is it specific icon types we're talking about?
Doublecheck that all the needed files are in Interface\AddOns\MapNotes\POIIcons,
There should be, uhm, 44 files.

Not sure if this has been reported yet, but I'm getting a Nil error every time I open the world map, then close it again.
Interface\FrameXML\WorldMapFrame.lua
:294: attempt to perform arithmatic on
local `elapsed' (a nil value)
Now. I can't find location, let alone that file, so I can't even begin to figure out what the problem is. I check lines 294 in all the files, but knowing nothing about this UI config stuff, I wasn't sure if something was wrong or not.
So yeah. Would be nice if this got fixed so I could quit clicking "Okay" in that error box every time I close my world map.
PS. MapNotes is the ONLY addon I currently have aside from blizzard official ones (eg. Blizzard_CraftUI)
[EDIT]
Now that I look, I'm the only person to post since May of 2005. Did I miss some new release of a WAY better mod or something?

Not sure what is causing that error, make sure that you have the latest version from the Cosmos distro. There shouldn't be such an error.
