WoW in stores now ..wont be released till tues am.

I spoke to the local EBgames and they all ready have the game in the back room...

They wont release it till they open on tuesday am...

What I am wondering, and I ask here cause you all seem to have a better info source than I have found anywhere else:

With the "in-store" midnight signing in LA, and the folks there getting their games earlier than anyone else, will the servers be closed until Tuesday am for launch at a reasonable hour (ie: after the stores open) Or will I rush to store to get my keys (2 copies) at 11 am est when they open and come home and log in and low and behold!!! Lvl 20 alliance raiding Razor Hill (like happened in the early hours of the open beta release)???

IOW, any idea what time the servers will go "live"???

Because I imagine what with the games sitting in stores now, and the copies going out at midnight pst, that there will be alot of people that have their key WAAAYYYY b4 morning the 23rd.

I know I am being an ah etc etc and the flames are heating my butt all ready...and what do i care what lvl other pll are and why do I have to be first etc ect...so noone has to bother with the flames, just on what's ETA for servers goin live (if anyone knows)

I'm not basing this on anything more than speculation, but I would imagine that servers will be ready for logins at 12:01 am eastern time. There are too many midnight events occuring across the country for Blizzard to not make the servers available.

It's not just in CA that you can get the game at midnight. If you have a 24 hour Wal-mart, they'll have the boxes ready to sell at midnight of your respective time zone.

there are 4 time zones, even during beta, they were grouped by time zone

won't they open each zone's server group as that zone hits midnight?
so the people on the east coast don't sign into the pacific servers 3 hours before pacific players are even able to buy the game?

or does that make too much sense?

LOL...dude. Open Beta was mixed with the stress test. There were level 20's because they had a week longer to play. I can assure you there won't be any level 20's on the first day. Maybe the second day...maybe...

I read replies and decided to try to get a copy from a 24/7 walmart tonight at 12 am midnight...

And guess what?

I called the walmart store that was open 24/7 and when I asked if they had WoW allready to be sold tonight...The woman said "lemme check for u" and then she came back and said "yes we have 3 copies" so I asked her if she would hold one for me and she said "no need to wait till midnight...it's on the shelf ....you can come buy it now if you want"
Freaked me right out....

so i drove the 25 miles at 5:15 am and got there and sure enuf I had my hands on a box....tbhey had 3 of the regular versions right thier on the shelf...

when the guy at the register tried to ring it up ...that's when the problems started: It said do not sell item until 11/23/04 and it wouldnt let him ring it up...

There was no way I was letting my hands off the game box at thiks point...
and after 3 different managers and cust service pll they finally figured out a way to let me buy it :D :) because I had been told to come get it by store personel and i drove 25 miles etc. They were really nice about it. The manager did make sure that they took the other 2 copies off the shelf though!

Can't say exactly which store, and Blizz realizes that some boxes are gonna go out b4 release time ( i know this cause i called Blizzard's account support line and they said that they weren't sweating it cause anyone who did get copy could still not create acct until servers were up at "12 am Pacific time or sooner since some people will be getting game at 12 am on east coast" She said they are getting the acct creation servers ready now and they may be up earlier than that...

She did say that once you could create an account you will be able to login to the game servers as well...here's hoping for an early start!

I have heard that Blizzard employees and family are already playing. (Since this afternoon).

I imagine they will turn on the account site at 12:01am EST. (There is a coming soon page there now) Since its up to the stores to sell the game at midnight if they are open and want to.

Same thing with half-life 2 .. even if you bought the game, you couldn't play it until 12:01am.

There are a LOT of people that have there keys already, in fact in entire guilds from what I hear. *evil grin*

thats funny... i work at a $100 million a year Wal-Mart, extremely busy store... and we hardly ever get games the day they come out...lucky if we even get them the week they come out... and they arnt hiding in the back... my store for some reason gets september feature stuff in november, its funny sometimes... now, Movies we always get on time...weeks early most of the time, its just for some reason, we hardly get games on time at this store... the only on time game we got that ive noticed this year was Halo 2... im just happy they opened an ebgames across the street like 3 weeks ago... only other game store in my town was a Game trader...only used games... and that was at the Mall... thats prolly why Wal-mart does so well here... crappy stores at the mall... no other mall or wal-mart for 30 miles... and its a heavy populated college town...hmm....

There are 3 wally super centers around here. I called two of them, they didn't even have the game in the store yet, third one had it in the back and would have it on the shelves 12:01 tonight :D
