My wife is having troubles with her chat channels. Sometime this morning, she says she was being spamed by "[4. Cosmos] [player_name] <CR>" or something like that.
She typed in "/leave 4".
Now, inside a city (Orgrimmar) everything appears normal. /chatlist shows 1. general, 2. trade, 3. defence, 10. zpartyjinti (her character name). When she leaves the city, she gets the message that she has left the trade channel and that's it. General chat appears as [1. general] and not [1. general - Durotar] as it should. She is unable to use /1 or any other default chat channel.

Logging into my account from her PC, I do not experience this problem with my characters.

Troubleshooting steps I have tried:
> /join cosmos
> Uninstalling cosmos, quitting the game, logging into the game, quit, reinstall cosmos, log back in.
> /leave zpartyjinti, /join cosmos, /join zpartyjinti
> Reinstalling the game from CD
> deleting the game, copying the game over from my PC to hers
> deleting the interface, WTF, WTD directories then copying from my PC to hers.
> deleting the interface, WTF, WTD directories then reinstalling cosmos
> overwriting her chat-cache.txt with mine
> screaming at the monitor

I've tried searching for previous posts dealing with this, but I failed to find anything. Does anyone know what the cause and resolution to this may be?

Thanks for the help

First: I don't think, I can help :(

but I like to ask one question: Has the game worked correctly without cosmos? Because I think the channels you have joined are stored on the server, you could try starting the game without cosmos (delete WTF and WDB after removing cosmos), leave all cosmos channels ("cosmos" and "zparty<name>"), make sure you left all cosmos channels (relogin - if you don't have long queues on the server to be sure) and then try to install cosmos again...

The game worked correctly previous to the infamous "/leave 4" both with and without cosmos.

I just tried:
> deleting the WTF and WTD directories
> running cosmos, uninstalling and Select Download Distibution:: None
- logging into the game
- /leave cosmos
- /leave zpartyjinti
- quit the game
- delete the WTF and WTD directories again
- run cosmos again choosing to install the beta version
- log into the game

This didn't work. In Durotar I have listed from /chatlist: 9. cosmos 10. ZPartyJinti
I run into Org and get: 1. General - Org, 2. Trade - Org, 3. LocalDefence - Org, 9. cosmos, 10. ZPartyJinti

Server is coming down in a hour for 1-2 hour maint. The good side to all this is I haven't ever had a queue when logging in to this server.

Try this:

1) Uninstall cosmos (delete the interface directory)
2) delete you 'wtf' & 'wdb' directories
3) restart wow and check if the problem persists - if it does I have no idea how to help you :(

If this did solve your problems, then you should be able to reinstall cosmos afterwards.

If you get the infamous "1. general" channel you need to do /leave 1, /join 1 or whatever it was... mebbe /leave 1, /join General.

That chat channel issue is one that is made worse (but not created) by Cosmos. It was concluded before that it was caused by crashing and stuff, I think.
