OK so I downloaded cosmos alpha and when i go to connect to get the download files it says "can't connect", what can I do about this?
Do not use the Cosmos*****.
Download new zip files every now and then.
Before downloading, delete or rename your Interface directory and clean out your WDB directory.

I'm having this same problem.
Now I noticed that my WoW folder is in "D:\World of Warcraft Open Beta Installer\World of Warcraft". When I went to install the disks, it immediatley went to Play, it didn't install. Will I need to find a way to install the disks again? And after that, i will have to go through all the patching in order to make this UI work?
No. If you have the open beta, you have the "real" version of WoW, too.
Anyhow.
The ONLY thing you need to do to install Cosmos is this:
1. Clean out your Interface directory
1.a. (optional, but recommended) Clean out your WDB directory.
2. Download a Cosmos zip file (Alpha or Beta).
3. Unzip it into your WoW directory.
4. Run WoW***** (not Cosmos*****).
5. Done.

I was jsut told by a friend of mine (a crazy computer programmer guru like the rest of you all) to put the COSMOS***** in the WoW root directory and everything else in the interface directory. Work'd for him, we'll see if it works for me.
