View Full Version : PC restarting after [Complete Quest] is selected
Basically my computer randomly crashes after i complete a quest. It's very very very very frustrating. It does it randomly, sometimes it doesnt crash sometimes it doesnt. I'm totally baffled, I heard i MIGHT be from cosmos. But i'm willing to run cosmos for the crashes, because it's such a great add on. I would never be able to play this game w/o it. But the ideal situation is to fix the crashes and still run cosmos. I'm not even 100% sure if it's cosmos or WoW.
I defraged and all that garbage inc. directX and all that stuff on worldofwarcraft.com -_________-
This problem needs to be fixed asap. I know a couple of ppl that have it as well and are complete confused. :(

I'm having this exact same problem and no matter how I tweak the UI using the options in the 'Cosmos Settings' bar I can not seem to get it to go away. Please upload a fix to this as soon as you can because I'd would absolutely HATE to have to uninstall Cosmos since it's the best add on to any ORPG I've ever seen or heard of.

Is your PC crashing or is just the WOW game crashing (disconnecting to log in screen)? If the latter, see this link:

Do you mean just turn off QM, sarf? becayse that hasn't helped when I've tried it. :(
It only happens on the eastern continent. Not sure if that helps or not. Please find a way to fix this if it's possible because CosmosUI is most excellent in every other respect!
Please feel free to e-mail me if you want me elaborate any further, Sarf. :)
Hmmmmmmmmm....
Strange.
I actually meant that you should delete the QuestMinion folder.
(don't run Cosmos***** after doing that, it will auto-update with a new QM).
Also you can test to remove CartoPlus / MapNotes (but save your WTF directory so you can restore your old mapnotes if you have some).

Sha-ZAM sirrah!
Ive been having this problem for a couple weeks now. It seemed to get worse the more I played - ie: the chance of a lockup upon hitting the Complete Quest button rose sharply if I had been playing for a long time.
As of today - Ive had it happen twice inside only about an hour of gametime.
Usually when it happens I get a sound lockup (constant sfx buzz) and within a few minutes Ill simply diconnect and then my pc will restart itself.
Today however - I cannot even get back into the game.
I just completed a quest in Tanaris - I locked up - everything restart - I logged back into game and soon as the loading bar finished - instant sound buzz, lock up and the cosmos UI was all messed up - I saw icons up there Ive never seen before.
Its done this repeatedly since then.
As mentioned above - Ive removed the Questminion folder and I've removed the mapnotes folder.
Still cannot log in with this lockup and restart business happening.
I have no choice but to clean Cosmos totally off my system and see if WoW still works.

Yeah I had the same problem in Lakeshire and Darkshire. But now I'm having it on my Elf char too in Darkshore :?
Hmm.. getting rid of Questminion hardly seems a solution. I love that lil option
Make sure QuestShare is not activated.

Hmm ok, don't remember seeing that option. Is it in the same place as Quest minion in the setup (can't test right now servers are down)?

After logging in and looknig at the options again, I don't see any "QuestShare" anywhere. How/where do I disable it?

ok it's been a few days but still no answer? Where is this option to disable 'Questshare;. I have no such option in my Cosmos menu?
Sheesh, I go away for a few days and everyone thinks I don't wuv them anymore. :D
If QuestShare can't be seen, it is already disabled (probably).

Went away? You mean there is somewhere to be other than WoW?? <opens front door...> Hey! There's a virtual world out there! Man... looks SO real? .. er.. what's that cold white stuff..? <HONK! HONK! .. BAM!>
...
Now, back to the safe world of WoW..
er.. so if it's disabled and doesn't show, how would you enable it?
Also, if it's not that option, any idea what else might cause the boot out to log screen? Still only happens in Lakeshire and Darkshire. You figure it would happen more in places like IF or SW since they are so laggy <shrug>

Just an update, i was able to go through all of wetlands quests without having my comp restart once. i did 3 quests in darkshire and it restarted me 3 times in a row. Lakeshire was the one crashing me before. I didnt have any problems in stormwind either with quest completes. hope this helps. i've had quest minion open with no problems in wetlands, but keeps crashing in darkshire. with or without quest minion.
