Is it possible to make a plugin that would automatically whisper someone when they buffed you, or healed you etc.?
I know you could make a macro, and click it every time to have it say this.. I am not sure about whisper..

But then to make it automatic.
I find lots of people on WoW very friendly, and they will thank you normally, but if it would whisper it, it could be good or bad..
Good: Doesn't clutter everyones chat screens if a Shaman party runs by and heals your entire group. And it is courteous to thank people for healing.
Bad: The person you are thanking, /r would be locked on you.

It would be possible to do.

Interesting suggestion - a sort of automatic politeness enhancer... of course, the downside is that people would get lazy since they didn't have to thank people themselves.

There would have to be some restraints, of course - don't thank anyone in your group - but how about raids?

Make it a macro? %t works in macros, iirc, so why not make it a button. . . you'd have to target the buffer, which kinda negates the ease of it, but there's a lot less effort involved, which means more peeps get thanked.

the problem is people will be able to tell its an automatic message, unless you tried to really hide it by making random thank you messages to keep it realistic.

they wouldn't really be able to tell unless they buff you multiple times. someone just running past throwing up mark of the wild on you once and getting a thank you probably wouldn't notice. but now if he ran y you 6 more imes that day he might catch on but not from the once

I like the idea. I for one am not a master typist, and I frequently get healed while in a battle, of in a run by buffing, and I never see who did it.
But I'd still like to say thank you :)

This is a great idea. It would be great if you could include it in the next verion of cosmos and let people use custom messages.

Yeah that was another concern I had... Since people would then just forget to do it...
Or maybe if it is possible to:
A string entry box in the options to set a $code type of thing, so it will will "/w <buff/heal> $code"
Have the buffee, type "/thx" to send that code (so it is not 100% automatic, and people actually have to think about it)
Have a moveable menu that will update a button to click saying "Thank" every time, then the button revert to inactive after 10 seconds or something.I kind of like the second one the best..
(A) ties in with (B) and (C)

If you can code it: Make it so it only 'thanks' the person once every minute or so. This solves the problem of multiple buffs spamming the person w/ more than one thank you.

As one of the drive-by-buffers I don't mind auto-thanks... They still had to d/l the add-on, so I know they appreciate my help. ;) However, getting three to four thanks in a row from the same person would be kinda aggravating... I get enough chat spam as it is. ;)

I'm happy to type in my thanks by hand. What I need is a notification in my chat window telling me that someone not in my party has buffed/healed me.
