View Full Version : Cosmos update deleting other add-ons?
I use a number of other add ons. (which would be great additions to Cosmos, btw: TrackerAssist, Rauen's PetDefend, Rauen's PetFeed)
With this most recent Cosmos patch, if I run the automatic updater, it deletes the files from those add-on folders. I can't seem to find a thread about this anywhere, but i can't be the only one that's noticed it. Anyone else had this problem and know why and how to fix it?

I had the same issue. I found my error. There is a checkbox that says keep interface folder clean or something to that effect. Uncheck it! :)

1) Make a new file/folder in the addons dir.
2) Name it the same as the addon you don't want cosmos to delete/change and add ".nopatch" to the end.
example
I use Gatherer addon which is not in cosmos. I have a folder called Gatherer.nopatch in the addons dir. Now anytime I update Cosmos the Gatherer addon doesnt get modified or deleted

Here is a detailed explanation: http://cosmos.thzclan.com/#nopatch
Keeping the Cleaning on at the moment for Cosmos***** is important because a lot of changes are being made to Cosmos and it is important that you do not have old Cosmos files still in your interface directory.

Your main problem has been solved. Here's what I've found to be very effective for managing additions to Cosmos.
Create a second folder at the same level as Interface. I call it Interface.xtra. In there create an Addons folder. In Addons drop your non-cosmos addons. Also create a text file named <Addon>.nopatch. Now you can simply copy the entire Addon directory ni Interface.xtra (Cntl-C) and past it into the main Interface folder (Cntl-V). It will warn you that you might overcopy things in Addons and do you still want to continue. Answer "yes" to this. If you have updated an addon but also copying in some you already have answer "no" to any other dialogs of this sort.
Best of all you can wipe out your Interface directory, re-install all Cosmos addons and then easily recover your non-cosmos additions.
Hope that helps,
K

*edit*
I have found my problem, don't do things when you are tired you make silly errors :(
I am having the same problem.
I have tried using a file and a folder of the format specified above and on the mirrors page here: http://cosmos.thzclan.com/#nopatch
I don't know if this has only just started happening as I have been doing it manually but as I am regularly playing with another cosmos user who is using the updater I thought I should make sure I am using the same version too, playing without being able to see his pets health is just too hard now!
