When I click on the map icon and it pops up, I would like to just click again to close, not have to move my cursor all the way across the screen to the corner ......adding a close button at the bottom, where the launch button is, would be nice.

Or you could just hit the M button?

would have to use keyboard then.
click open with mouse, move hand to keyboard to hit M---really waste of movement.
I use mouse , not keyboard, wherever possible

In a world filled with laziness and inactivity, this most certainly takes the cake...

FOr that matter, all of Cosmos UI stuff encourages laziness...
From a design perspective, having the mouse open and close button on opposite sides of the screen is really poor.
THere are times when the keyboard isn't even near me. when I'm just using the mouse.
You sound keyboard centric rather than mouse centric, with no idea on UI design,,,

Yeah Microsoft should redo windows again, they put the start button in the bottom left and the close button in the top right.....

All the buttons on the WoW UI both open and close the item when clicked---EXCEPT the map button.
Want to bet that there a re a huge number of ppl who click on the map to open it, and then click again immediately to close it, at the wrong spot--at the bottom?
THey broke the expected behaviour model.
If all the popups were windows style, with the close button on the upper right as the only way to close them, then they would not have broken the rules.

That doesn't give you the right to insult someone and state that just because they use keyboards they don't know what UI design is.
In fact, the mouse has been ridiculed as the worst UI tool invented due to how incredibly slow it is. That is the reason mice are not the primary input device for games these days. It takes way too long to move the mouse from one side of the screen to the other no matter what you're doing. Sure, there are techniques to limit the amount of mouse movement but the whole concept was an unfortunate biproduct of a lesser informed age. I'd just as soon do away with the mouse all together. I barely use it as it is.

As I said before, you are keyboard centric. THat is not an insult, just a preference.
Bad mouse UI design is bad mouse UI design. Saying it's OK to be bad because the keyboard is better is ignorant.
I am mouse centric, even though I grew up on mainframes using Unix and early versions of DOS, so I consider keyboard UI design very important, but no more important than mouse UI design.
