I agree with this one, was just coming out to search to see if there are any comments about why it was removed or if it was coming back :)

A great use for it is avoiding spamming people in chat channels. If you say 'WTB one Shadow Oil' in trade...you don't want to keep spamming it. But if you can see it's been a few minutes since the last time, it makes it a lot easier!

Back to searching :)

Bump and agreed - Chat Timestamps were pulled - obviously there was a good reason - don't have a clue what the problem was, but I trust the cosmos team - if they pulled it, it needed to be pulled.

Anyone from the team that can take a sec and explain what the prob was and if there is any plans for it's eventual return? Apparently several of us looking for it to come back. Thanks.

At a guess I'd say the fact that the content patch will have date & time functions has something to do with it, but I could be wrong.

do at your own risk :
move chattimestamps from DisabledAddOns to addons in wow\interface dir and change interface verrsion to 4216 in .toc file in that directory and they work.

i dont know why this addon has been disabled, there may be a good reason for disabling it.

Now they are back is there a way to get it to stop displaying the date?
I have commented out the only part referring to date I could find in the lua file and it seems to have worked ok.
Is it possible to have a checkbox option for this?

Look at the options for timestamps. There is a choice between local time and server time. Local time includes the date. Server time is just the time.
