with the lastest alpha the chat mouse scroll doesnt seem to be working. 3-13-05 alpha

I have the same problem, any mouse wheel action in general or combat frames gives a rather annoying error. Is there any temporary fix for this?

turn off the addon ChatScroll in the player select screen and it will work again. I think they made a mistake from not removing the old chat mouse scroll ability before addign this one.

No, the problem is that you're updating files and not removing ones no longer included. You will see that the alpha now only includes 6 files in the FrameXML folder. You should only have ActionButton.lua, BankFrame.xml, BonusActionBarFrame.xml, ItemRef.xml, Minimap.xml, PetActionBarFrame.xml

The old scroll code was in ChatFrame.xml you should no longer have this file because it has been replaced by the more addon friendly ChatScroll.

One more reason to run the patcher with the Keep Interface Folder Clean option enabled. You wouldn't have this problem if you had.
