Tooltips going offscreen

It used to be that they didn't go off screen, now when I hover over an item, the tooltip can go offscreen. Kind of difficult to check things that are in your pack, so i end up having to link them to myself so I can click on them and see what they are.

If you have the tooltip in the standard position go to the Gymnast config tab and click BOTTOMRIGHT this will make the tooltip extend up and left. Or you can move the tooltip using the Show button.

I've noticed something similar, but I thought it had to do with switching from 1600x1200 to 1280x1024 since I got a flat panel. The really annoying things: 1) on the character screen, if you go to the Addons menu to enable/disable stuff, the tooltip for the addon generally seems to be at least 50% off the left side of the screen. 2) In the game, if the tooltip would be close to the edge of the screen, with Gymnast on, it seems like a lot of the tooltips just blink on and off very rapidly until I move the mouse to turn the tooltip off.

I'm not sure what I missed, but now the tooltips default to the lower right corner of the screen until you turn on gymnast and move them; but this is never where my tooltips were, even for the couple weeks when I first started playing the game before I installed cosmos. It seems like a really stupid place to put it.

I have a problem with the tooltip extending off the screen as well, but for me the only time I have this problem is with the left edge of the screen. I use the "Anchor tooltips to mouse" option and it works for everything but the screen's left edge properly. Normally it anchors the tooltip so the mouse is in the top center of the window, which is great. When I get near the top, right, or bottom edge, it adjusts the tooltip anchor position so it's fully on-screen, which is also great. When I mouse over anything on the left edge, however (mainly part members and the leftmost icons on my hotbar), the tooltip still attaches top-center even though part of it is off the screen. This is most annoying in groups where I have to select a part member by left-clicking on them so I can see their stats at the top of my screen. And there's no way to get the full description of the leftmost icons in my hotbar either.

Don't get me wrong, I love Gymnast in every other way, it's just this minor bug that's annoying.

FYI, I've tried adjusting any option that would seem to help (including turning off Smart Anchoring and trying different anchor positions) and none of the options seem to change anything at all as long as Anchor to Mouse is on. Every edge of the screen is properly handled except for the left edge.

Give Gymnast from the latest Alpha a try, and enable "Position Tooltips by Owner" and disable "Anchor Tooltip To Mouse." See if that suits your needs.
