It was cool up until the wowToc part :p It would be better to teach people who to use the Addons menu rather than just changing the toc number and then getting 100 posts about why doesn't my mod work, I changed the toc.

I agree with Gryphon. WoWTOC, while a nice utility, is risky since you are making the assumption that all 3rd party addons are compatable and ready for whatever new patch comes along. You would really be better off to wait until each author releases a new version with either just a TOC file update or along with whatever changes needed to make that addon work with the latest patch. It takes longer yes, but is safer in the long run.

It takes longer yes, but is safer in the long run. And less trouble for people trying to support addons and have to troubleshoot people only to find out they are running old code when they should be using new when possible.
Guys,
Thx for the info, I agree with your input and I'll add this comment to the tutorial. I might still keep the WoWToc in there, just because it's the easiest/fastest way to get your things back up after a patch.
But thx a lot for the input!!

Ah, but it's not. The fastest way to do this is to tell WoW to ignore out of date issues (tick box under the AddOns list, reached by left-clicking the AddOns button from teh char select screen). That way you never ever have to worry about version numbers as a user - but if there's a problem you can instantly see on one screen which AddOns are out of date without having to look at each toc file one by one.
PS: I really like the tutorial - have you considered adding it to the wiki at http://www.wowwiki.com ?

Thank you again for explaining this. I will check this out in WoW myself tonight and then alter the tutorial.
And thx for the compliment :) I didn't know there was a place to add the tutorial, so I will certainly ask if they are interested in that!
Thx again.
