Attack function (not toggle), or combat variable

I need my macro to attack targets, but the AttackTarget() function toggles my attack status. Is there a function I can use to attack the target without the possibility of toggling it off by mistake, or perhaps a variable my macros can check to see if the attack function needs to be executed?
