All the chat bugs I posted about earlier during the big shakedown on Cosmos chat are back:

. can send, can't receive
. can receive, can't send
. /leave & /join don't fix it (just scews up list more)
. custom channels can't be joined
. /join results in "attempting to join ..", adds to list, but can't send/receive
. etc..

The only fix for this is to remove cosmos, remove your current config (interface, wdb, wtf), run vanilla wow, remove channels (via number AND via precise name with capitalization), then restore Cosmos & config after verifying channels work without cosmos.

This doesn't happen as often as it once did -- used to be nearly daily, but now about once every week.

This is actually the main thing that is making me consider uninstall the whole cosmos for once and for all.

If I delete the WDB and WTF folders, all my configuration of spells/skills in my bars will be lost too, as well as my macros, and many other things.

What pisses me more is that the bug comes from a nonsense and useless library to improve comunications (Sky) added in the recent releases, that puts his nose in chanels that IMHO, the library shouldnt put its nose into. I dont find it useful at all and I didnt see any improvement in party minion and skyscape or raid minion, honestly.

Is like I tell you we improved the clock add on, and now you get a bug that crashes your client badly and doesnt allow you to attack, and then come up with the solution that you just reinstall WoW from scratch and reinstall again: no thanks.

I'd apreciate a better solution from the developers than reinstalation from scratch. If there isnt and I really have to reinstall from scratch, please tell me how to save most of my config (savedvariables.lua? I got a lot of herbing info there that I wouldnt want to lose and the macros and buttons in bars configuration in which I spent hours).

Thanks in advance

Piccard... I understand your fustration and I am working as best I can to try and fix as many problems as possible. I think Sky has come a long way and is close to being fixed up.

I agree that deleting config files on your machine is not the way to go. Personally I have never needed to delete files to get things working as I know enough commands to get around it. What I am looking at making is a function that will reset Sky to a state that is usable. With all the changes that have happened to Sky I am guessing some people are running into problems just because their config variables are outdated and such.

Part of the problem though is that I don't understand exactly what people are having problems with so I don't know what needs to be in the reset function to get people working. I have used Sky a lot as I am working with it to fix the bugs. There are some times where I run into small problems but not massive problems like some people are having. To try and remedy this I have been asking people include detailed problem descriptions with steps that they have tried to get things working. To also make it easier I have asked people to put all their posts into one thread:

http://www.cosmosui.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8891

So that I can better track what the root cause is of peoples problems.

Much appreciated for your quick reply. I figured out how to empty the whole thing saving my macros , buttons and herbs info without having to make a new installation.

I didnt delete the ~/WDB folder, but I deleted all in my ~/WTF making previously a copy of:
- SavedVariables.lua (my info of Gatherer with herb spots is there).
- macros-local.txt , and macros-cache.txt (all my macros code was there).
- bindings-cache.wtf (for my key bindings config).

All those files are in ~/WTF/Account/<you account name>/.

After that I deleted my Interface folder and reinstalled cosmos (and downloaded + install all the extra addons I had).

Am not a developer at all in these, but doing this prevented me from losing all my info (I really mean it, I need those herb spots!). Hope this helps to other players with same problems I had.
