View Full Version : BarOptions and Window Priority

Ok, I think I know what is bugging me about using BarOptions with the Cosmos sidebars instead of the old SideBar, and maybe it's something worth changing, thinking about, et al?
Well, actually there's a little issue with me having to go into BarOptions every time I log a character in and clicking that SideBar Setup button to get them to show...it doesn't seem to save well across characters?
The 'real' thing that bugs me about leveraging the Cosmos sidebars is the window priority. The bars sit 'on top of' all the other windows. I personally am not crazy about mobile frames, but used it to move my sidebars around a bit (I like the left one lower). I do 'not' like it for the windows like quest, character, shopping...as the last time I used it, it caused them to overlap. I like the default behaviour that causes no more than 2 windows to be open, and it 'shuffles' them around.
With the old SideBars, the priority was lower, so all other windows (bags, quest log, character, etc) openned 'over' the buttons. The Cosmos buttons are always on top of those windows.
What about giving us the option to set the window priority so the sidebar buttons sit under those windows?

I dont like the "new" sidebars.
I personally only used the left one and moved them further down a bit.
(in the sidebar options)
Mobile frames IMO never worked as it should and I disabled it completly.
If you are getting rid of the old sidebars at least add all the options of them to the Baroptions

What option that you had for sidebar do you not have for baroptions?

From my perspective it's not about options so much at this point, but window priority.
I can use mobile frames to move my bars around (instead of the old y offset sliders), all that is good.
My issue is solely with window priorities. The old sidebars had a priority 'under' all other windows. This would allow you to let all the other windows open 'over' those bars. They moved the bags over, and why that is annoying from a space perspective, I can live with it.
What I miss is having the quest, character, faction, buy/sell, et al windows that open on the 'left' open 'over' the side bars. The new bars have a top priority, so it makes it hard to read the quest log, click on things on the character screen, et al.
Yes, I could go make everything mobile - but I don't want to. My experience with making all those mobile is that you 'lose' the nice default behavior of (for lack of something better to call it) - the window shuffle. The default behavior is you can have two of those 'types' of windows open at one time, and they 'shuffle' to a position right of the default left position if you open more than one. I really like that.
I don't know how easy it would be, but it would seem a simple solution would be to give us the option in BarOptions to set the window priority of 'both' sidebars to 'bottom of the barrel' (maybe it's there now but disguised under a cryptic name?). Additionally I'd like an option to move my bags back to a 'non-sidebar-enabled' position.
This would bring me back to the old system, which I liked. Sidebar window priority below all others. Move bags back to 'pre-sidebar implementation' position.

Yeah, my biggest gripe with SideBar being thrown out is the bags being moved over. I play with my backpack open all the time (unusual, I know) and I really hate how the bags are moved over two icon spaces to the left. That's why I refused to use Blizzard's new sidebars to begin with. I don't like using the mobile bag frames because there's no way I can make the distance between the bags exactly the same like I can if I used the default positions. I don't like inconsistency.
Of course, moving the bags over to their non-sidebar enabled positions will require that the sidebar buttons be under the bags as previously stated.
On a somewhat related note, is it just me that has the low-durability icon moved over to the right since the big interface patch? It keeps getting obscured by the sidebar and I often don't notice when half my stuff is broken, heh. In fact, I believe it's moved over so far that the ranged slot (which appears to the right of the humanoid figure) is off the screen.

Was curious if there was any comment regarding this, anyway/plans/ideas about how to make WoW's sidebars have the lowest window priority?
