I have installed the latest Alpha version of Cosmos and the file structure shows all the directories and files are where they should be. However, when I run WoW, none of the addons viewable. I didn't have this problem until after I downloaded the new 1.5 patch for WoW.

if you go to the character select screen and click on AddOns what do you see there?

I see a long list of addons that are all out of date. Is there an update for Cosmos now that patch 1.5 is out?

Alpha 1.5 is broken all the addons are "out of date", plus the game crashes 2 seconds into logining with my characters.

I am having the same problem as listed above. All addons are out of date. I have just tried the Alpha version, and still will not work.

The alpha is not "out of date" you are not using the latest alpha if you are seeing "out of date" ad the addon screen. Feel free to download the latest alpha from cosmos.thzclan.com and open any of the toc files and notice that they actually say the right number (1500). Additionally if you are not using the latest alpha you will get several different errors on startup as stuff was changed in the patch.

I and a friend are having the same problem. We both downloaded and installed the alpha version as was running fine before the patch. Starting WoW after the patch, we both got the message that we needed to disable the addons. I downloaded the alpha version again yesterday and copied them over the existing files just to check but get the same messages saying that all the addons are out of date.
Any ideas on how to fix? Would it make sense to delete the addons under the interfaces folder and resinstall? Are there any other files that also need to be deleted first?
Help! I really miss your files!!
thanks.

Where are you downloading the alpha from? You could delete your interface folder if the only addons you are using are Cosmos.
Yeah im having teh same problem with the alpha version. I guess ill just forget it and stick with regular until there is a stable version.

I downloaded the alpha version from the cosmos site. Specifically, this file: http://www.cosmosui.org/cosmos/Cosmos_Alpha.zip

That version does have the latest TOC files, sounds like for some reason its not actually overwriting your folders. If the only addons you have are cosmos try simply deleting your Interface folder then unzipping that file into your WoW directory. If you have non cosmos addons delete only the cosmos addon folders (If you dont have many non cosmos you could select all then hold down ctrl and click the folders you dont want to delete) then unzip the file into your directory.

Ok, something is definitely wacky with the alpha....Have 2 machines here running the latest WoW 1.5.x.x. yadda version - Installed the Cosmos alpha normally on my machine and everything worked perfectly. Installed the EXACT SAME zipped alpha file on my roomie's machine and everything is out of date. Checked the .toc files on mine...1500 all good...checked hers - all are 1300 o.0?
What gives with that?
Tried deleting any possible cached files from around her machine, deleted the interface folder, always the same problem even though the exact same zip file successfully patched my machine.
Does the alpha installer check an already installed file to set the version number for the .toc files, or are they shipped pre-versioned?

My guess would be that you unzipped it onto your roommates computer then ran cosmos***** to startup. Her computer probably is set to download the release version and promptly overwrote all the files with the older ones.
If you're going to unzip the alpha onto a computer when you start cosmos***** click options or configuration (cant remember which it is) and make sure you have alpha selected from the dropdown menu.

Outstanding workaround Sinaloit :D
Still wondering how my machine patched to alpha and hers went to release considering I deleted her cosmos***** and cosmos.txt so where did her installer decide it wanted to patch to release?....and....*ahem* never touched the Configure button in my life *cough*
Either way, you just figured out what has been causing people's "Out of Date" errors.
Any Ideas on where a config file that would hold alpha VS release would be hiding?
Thanks again,
Stelf

I believe its stored in the registry but i'm not 100% sure i'm at work atm so i cant make some tests atm.

Oh yeah, one more thing....on both machines, Cosmos***** was run directly out of WinZip....I was wondering if the last cosmos installed was being appended into the patch log or somesuch.

Ok, here is my problem.
With the most resent patch, I've downloaded the most recent Cosmos UI. Everything looks ok. AddOns are all up to date and everything. I log on my main character. After 2 or 3 secs of loading in my character, I move a bit and wham! I get an error message from Bliz. When I try with my alts, I have no problem what so ever. Why is it doing it just to my main? This has happened on other people accounts who used cosmos before they got fed up with the same problem and switched UIs.
Below is a copy of the error message I got. Maybe you can make more sense out of it than I can. Please help before I have to go to another UI.
This application has encountered a critical error:

I have deleted the contents of the Interface directory and selected the option for downloading the Alpha version. However, when I check the addon list, it still shows them all as out of date AND it still has the checked/uncheckec preferences that I had before I did the deletion. How do I clear the cache so I can get a clean install?

Never mind. It's working perfectly now. It's nice to have it back.
