View Full Version : Tell Track screwed up my chat window

I tried to enable Tell Track for my Hunter, now my chat window is screwed up even after disabling Tell Track. I cannot receive Tells normally anymore - with Tell Track disabled, I just don't receive them. If I do enable Tell Track, my Combat window disappears completely. My main reason for not using it is between the floating Tell Track list of names and the new Channel tracker buttons, I kept clicking on things instead of clicking on the background when I wanted to change the view aspect of the screen, and it got annoying to be dragging windows or popping open Emote drawers instead of moving the camera angle.

Another problem is that the General Chat window no longer "floats." I enabled Tel Track (and then attempted to disable it) on my Hunter character. When I summon my pet, the General chat window no longer moves upwards to accomodate the pet bar, so the lower two lines of chat are behind the pet bar. I have to manually move the chat window upwards. Once I do this, it floats properly after summoning, but after logging out and back in, it's broken again. I tried deleting my Khaos profile and starting over again, which reset the window, but it broke again the first time I received a tell. (This is similar to how bringing up the map would sometimes overlap the Paladin's Aura bar with the chat window after Blizzard added the new toolbars, but it would eventually fix itself. This problem does not fix itself.)

This only happens with my Hunter. I have not experimented with Tell Track on any other characters, so sending and receiving Tells works fine for those chars, and the General Chat window behaves normally.

I have not yet removed Cosmos and reinstalled, but that's next.

Thanks for a great program, guys.

To see whispers in whatever frame you want, right click the tab and go to th filters menu and sellect whispers for that chat frame. TellTrack automaticly hides them in all but the whisper frame if you happen to have that option enabled.

To reset your chat frame you might try editing your layout-cache.txt for that character and deleting the ChatFrame entries. Blizzard didn't make that part easy.

You can also reposition the TellTrack frame by dragging if you find it better suited somewhere else on your screen.

But in general it seems TellTrack is opperating as intended, it just didn't match your expectations.

karl - maybe you can help me with this. my telltrack will not resize to <3 bars (ok, it will, but it always comes back after relogging. all other changes are saved.) the third/bottom name on the telltrack list (it was a down arrow way back when) now contains the name of whoever was last on my telltrack list last time I logged out, and functions as a telltrack button, not a scroll button. it also does not scroll with the mousewheel. I can take screenshots and find somewhere to host, if it would be helpful.

Understood. Problem was when I unmarked that option, it didn't put them back in the main window. It didn't show them at all until I selected "Create new window." Then tells, Guild Chat, and Party Chat would show in this new window. If I enabled TellTrack again, the Combat window would go bye-bye.

I just deleted the character folder under WTF. This also solved the problem of the General window being blocked by the pet bar.

I found that out. I kept moving it by accident when I would go to reposition the camera. :) I also disabled the Channel Manager from the addons manager - it took up too much space.

Everything except the option to "Hide in General" - that option doesn't seem to disable when I uncheck it, or somehow it got confused and the only way I was able to get tells back into the main window was to delete the WTF\(charname) folder.

But, it's fixed now. I guess if I was the only one who had a problem with it, it's not a bug.
