In various places and forums I've suggested this to deaf ears, but with the mass of developers that read this forum my hopes are high...
Using the current chat manager this should be VERY easy to make, but I'm not really a coder so my knowledge of HowTo isn't there.
Basically it's like this.. rather than assign my chat channels to keybinding I would like to have a small, very thin bar with channel-colored buttons on it that relate to each channel. The buttons need be no bigger than the +pip graphic used on the map page for mapnotes. This bar could be horzontal or vertical and you could choose which channels will show on the bar. The option of label name or not (simple mouse-over of channel name with tooltip should be fine)
Click on the color-coded button and that channel opens ready for typing.
Could even be used with TellTrack for the reply option to give you a nice pulldown or popup of last 4 names you received messages from last with the last one already pre-selected.
The default would be all the basic channels [say, general, reply, party, guild, raid, yell, trade] but other chould be added or these removed in the config such as (local defense, officer, custom chanels).
I would find having everything on my screen within easy mouse move a MUCH more reliable method of channel selection and use avoiding wrong channel issues.
