Recently, Blizzard has begun a large push against ***** files. For the most part, they are right! If you download a ***** without knowing what it does, you're likely at risk to get a virus or trojan. I'll promise you that the Cosmos***** is safe, but if you're worried, remember you can *always* download the .zip from our Downloads page.

Excellent point.

I want to add that it's been found why people were getting their accounts stolen in such large numbers. Allakhazam has recently announced that one of their advertisement providers used a bit of malicious code in their advertisements (using an iframe and javascript) to steal your passwords.

Apparantly one of our ad providers was affected by a trojan and was serving it to our site for several days last weekend. This is a keylogger and could possibly compromise your game login and password. As soon as we discovered it, we pulled all of their ads.

It's really too bad.

Thats really scary, thinking how easy it was for them to get so many passoword.

Of course the other thing to add, if you were up to date with all windows security fixes, you're not at risk...

So what is the exe doing after it distributes the addon files? Why is there a bunch of other Cosmos files in my wow directory?

The Cosmos*****...

Downloads the appropriate files from the Cosmos distribution of your choice Removes any addons which it doesn't like (i.e. not recognized as Cosmos addons and which does not have .nopatch files). Uploads data from the Thottbot addon to the Thottbot site Downloads a "patch list" with the log comments from our kind and generous devs (of which I am one, mostly with the right to "fix" addons - badly ^^ ).

That's about it, I think.
