When I click the Patch cosmos button, it downloads the addons that I have listed in my NoPatch.nopatch

isn't part of the point of having this file to tell the patcher which addons you don't want it to update??

I have version 3.8 of the cosmos patcher

The 3.8 patcher does not use the .nopatch files, so I gather.
It has an addon manager which is accessed from Manage AddOns.
You can then select the addons you do not want cosmos to update and choose Protect Selection(s).

The addons I don't want are still downloaded each time. The only way I can actually stopped them from being downloaded is it actually install them then leave them in the disabled addons folder.

Doesn't selecting the addon and choosing Disabled work ?

In the addon manager I have disabled addons that I don't use. I have also protected them. Every time I click the Patch Cosmos button, ALL the disabled and protected parts of Cosmos are still downloaded.

Try it yourself. Disable every part of cosmos and protect them all. Then delete all the cosmos addons from your addons folder and the disabled addons folder. Then when you click the Patch Cosmos button it will download them all. Note: it does actually copy them to the folders, but it does download them each time.

The protected files information is stored in the NoPatch.nopotch file.
