The patcher + XP x64-bit

A thread for the XP Professional x64-bit edition users!

The only unconfirmed problem that has yet arisen with the patcher running in 32-bit mode on 64-bit windows is the lack of the proper loading of the distribution list.

Post/discuss any other glitches/issues here, or if you would like to report that it is working fine on your 64-bit!

Im running 64-bit and its working fine! no different problems from the 32-bit systems.

Everything else seems to work just fine, but I am having the problem you mentioned...

There's no list at all, just blank.

I can confirm this issue -- I am unable to see any distributions in the dropdown, and the patcher will not download the changed files, although it does detect them.

Furthermore, when I click on "Restore Defaults", I get the following error in the logfile:

Hello all,

After installing Cosmos in my XP-64 bit my right mouse button stops working. Without cosmos and after removing it it works just fine. Also in my xp win 32 bit machine it works just fine.

The missing distros is probably more related to the patcher being run for the first time with no prefs. The code to fetch the distros was removed because the startup wizard was going to do it. Since the startup wizard isn't done the distros are not fetched till the intial patch on the server.

In 3.9 I added the code to refetch and ask which distro to use. 4.0 will see the startup wizard.

I'm using Windows XP 64bit, when I try and use the Cosmos Updater I get this error:

"The exception unknown software exception (0xc00000fd) occured in the application at location 0x1000a387."

I have installed it several times, every time same thing. :cry:

I downloaded the Alpha Cosmos***** (Version r3665) and now all is well. :D Here is the address for it:

I have this exact problem also on my 64bit windows. The distro list does not show up.. Even with a brand new prefs file with the 3.9 version.

I end up having to manually edit the prefs file and add the proper distro selection. i have also manually added the distro info into the xml off my Xp 32 box. and i still don't see the distro's in the dropdown box on the xp 64.

EDIT: I found a small problem and work around. With the patcher in 98/ME compatability mode the installer won't lauch, program just hangs and stops responding. So... put the patcher in 98/ME mode to choose the release that you want, close the patcher, then put the patcher in XP mode to actually install the release. I know it's a bit of a pain to have to keep changeing modes but at least it works.
