View Full Version : Suggestions for small changes to Cosmos

I'd love to see an addon that lets you reposition all the UI windows, since installing Cosmos some of the windows are sitting oddly and I'd like to see them improved. They're not necessarily bugs but they'd make Cosmos a bit more user friendly.
Another issue is that I can't bring the allinone inventory to the front when in the AH so it's a bit of an annoyance there. As well there's an issue with containers in bags, when you open a lootable bag you can't move the window, and when you press the next or previous buttons the window shifts on the screen, alot of times the window will pop up half on the screen with my right action bar in the way.
I would also love to see a music player. I don't know why Blizzard failed so miserably to model WoW after the successful predecessors like EQ but they didn't put in a bloody mp3 player. Winamp doesn't run in the background very well and I'm sitting here thinking that the Cosmos team should be replacing WoW default UI design team to make things the way the players want it.
All in all after 2 days of using Cosmos I'm happy with it. I was reluctant to do any UI modding because I feel like it's cheating but with the chaos in AV and people using bots it's nice to have the added support of a modded UI. Thanks.

there is one SWEET mod that lets you move and frame to were ever you want. And a cool MP3 Player.
Move Anything (http://www.curse-gaming.com/en/wow/addons-2435-1-moveanything-redux.html)
Simple MP3 (http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=2512)
No i dought these will get aded to the CosmosUI casuse the authors would have to update then for the cosmosUI team and most of the tiem due to RL they cant do ti right away witch is cool.. but these are 2 VERY nice addons
FYI as for playing MP3s in Game there is a MAJOR problem.. every time you zone or enter the bank or the AH the ingame zoen music will play over top of your mp3s. From what i can find out there is no way to change this.. unlike EQ, WoWs mp3 system in game music cant be turend off and still alow MP3 to be played i have tryed.. as soon as you uncheck dont play music then you ingame MP3 add on system will not play either.. WOW REALLY needs to fix that :P
any way hope this helps ya

global hotkleys will always be better for music players than something UI-related because of the way WoW manages memory.
Cosmos already includes Mobile Frames, which doesn't really play nicely with moveanything.

Well winamp has problems with WoW... would you suggest a free player that isn't going to crap out on me? I'm not so worried about global hotkeys, I can use the windows key, but mainly I just want something that plays music effectively.
I'm just looking for solutions to my issues, I don't know enough about the way mods are made to do more than present problems. Give me a year or two. :p

http://foobar2000.org/ is nice, but you might notice some slowing (depends on your system, I guess).
here's a huge media player list with all kinds of info

It seems like it doesn't matter what kind of system you have, wow will slow down in some way or another I swear...

Interesting, I don't have any trouble playing winamp with in-game music off.

It could be that I'm using XP Pro 64 bit... it seems like companies are horribly slow to catch up to new operating systems.
By the way... anyone know of a mod that will scramble "bad" words on the way out without me having to see them? I just got an account violation notification for calling someone a "scared little bitch" apparently the TOS requires you to talk and think like a child which is beyond stupid. They really need to either make 18+ uncensored servers, fix the stupid TOS, or make it so you can change what you're saying so that MORONS on the other side can't see what you're saying to them that might be considered objectionable by the idiots at Blizzard. Censorship to me is a vindictive idiot's tool for revenge and only children who don't know the english language worry about what words people use. I don't want to see scrambled text on my screen, but if I have to scramble them for other people so they can't whine and tattle then that's what I'd like to do.

Hmm, does the game censor not censor "bitch"? Sounds to me like the other party chose to have their censor off, and in that case you should not be penalized :?

You would think that, but no... Blizzard is idiotic that way, if you say something considered bad, and the person has their filter off, you can get penalized for it... which is why I want a mod that scrambles my outgoing "bad" words so I don't have to see scrambled crap, but won't get penalized by the pieces of crap at Blizzard because some idiot tattled after I obliterated them in an argument.

I think I saw one at some point, but I'm not sure...
as for the filter, the response that I've seen is that the filter exists to protect people from seeing bad words, not to allow people to say them. IE, guy says "%$#@ you #$@%face, #%$ my %#@! with $%#!" and gets banned, but little bobby doesn't even know what was said. Oftentimes, GMs won't act on things like "oh shit" but they will if you say "you are a peice of shit"
it'd be an easy mod to write, I think, but compiling the lexicon might be tough, and you'd want to make sure that it doesn't disrupt any other addon communication.

I think it should be a Blizzard installed option, I just wrote a suggestion for it on the WoW forums.

Unfortunately, though, the problem isn't on Blizzard's end... it's on yours. You don't have the right to call someone a little bitch on their server. EVER. No matter whether you think it's childish or not, Blizzard has said swearing and cursing aren't allowed... period.
If you disagree with that, your only recourse is the same as with any other product or service: stop paying for it.

if you want something to play music while playing wow I use windows media player 10 and it works perfectly never a single problem yet. Crank in a bunch of playlists hit random and play and load up the game.

Well Obviously windows media player is going to work, just like iTunes will
but people want a music player in their WoW frame just so its easier
heres something i do though thats a suggestion for the meantime
if you have itunes, go to the podcast directory, where they have free songs, talkshows, movies and such. I go there and download a Song made by a guy named DJ steveboy every week there, and the song is about 1-2 hours long on average, so i can play it and listen to it escalate while im doing a raid or instance, so its pretty awsome
