I'm noticing that my cosmos ui looks a lot different than my fiance's version. I've been using cosmos a lot longer than she has and I'm thinking it's just the remaining files from old installs... I'm looking for instructions on how to completely delete all traces of any mods. I seem to recall instruction on deleting certain config files or something to that effect.

If you really want to be sure that every old stuff is gone:
0) Backup your WTF\account\<account>\SavedVariables and WDB folders.*
1) Delete your WTF\account\<account>\SavedVariables and WDB folders
2) Use Cosmos***** to update your cosmos.
IMPORTANT IF YOU USE OTHER ADDONS THAN COSMOS: protect those addons before starting the update (can be done from within cosmos*****: the Manage Addons button)
After that press Update Cosmos
and finish with Run Wow (or if you don't trust the updater, close cosmos***** and start the WoW-launcher).

* It is smart to make a regular backup of your SavedVariables folder. I've made a backup-batch file which can be scheduled and which can be found here (put on the wiki-page of Auctioneer, Enchantrix and Gatherer, since I origninaly developed it for those addons).

Ok.. I have another issue..

I play on 2 different servers. Ever since the WoW 2.x patch I have had an issue on one of the servers.. every char on said server has a screwy UI. I tried following the instruction on the cosmos download page to correct any ui issues but they are still there.

The other server I play on is having no issues for any characters.

Within the WTF folder, if you drill down, you will find folders for each character. Move the folders for the affected characters (or the whole server in your case) to a safe location and restart wow and see if that fixes it.
If it does, and you don't have anything you need within those folders, (there is nothing much really in them, except for maybe character specific macros, layout data, addon setups, etc), you can delete the folder you moved.

Ok, I did that and I still have the layout issue on the one server... : / I even deleted the WTF folder completey and it STILL had layout issues! WTF!

Hmmm any ideas?

Only other thing I can think of is a total uninstall/reinstall of wow.

If you do decide to do that (I've done it a couple of weeks ago for something else), make sure to put the patch files in a safe location so that you don't need to download them all again. In my installation, the patch files are located in the root wow folder (as several files), and a WoW-1.12.x-to-2.0.1-enGB-patch folder. There is also a wow\patches folder (this looks like it is the pre-fetch for the next patch).

Hopefully someone will have another solution you can try before going through this process.

Try deleting your Cache & WTF folder, not just your WTF folder.

Ah, I see that is where the WDB folder has now been hidden
Hopefully deleting the cache will solve this problem for jrichter73.

This is a helpful thread for me, but i want to erase all the extra addons, to just do a cosmos clean installation.

How i can do that?

1. Delete the wow\interface\AddOns folder
2. Move your WTF and Cache folders to a safe location.
3. Install Cosmos.

If you had mapnotes/gatherer/auctioneer or other data you want to keep then run wow. Login to one of your characters. Exit wow. Go to the wtf folder you moved and copy over the lua file to the new SavedVariables folder.
e.g. if mapnotes, go to old wtf\Account\accountname\SavedVariables folder. copy MapNotes.lua to the new wtf\Account\accountname\SavedVariables folder.
