Ok, you state you've followed the directions which should work, but there are a few areas I'll clarify just in case they affect you.
1. Are you using Vista ? If so then you need to install wow into any other location than C:\Program Files. Why? Because MicroSoft balls up and made this location a high security zone which makes addons for wow not work.
2. Are you using the patcher or the manual install ? If the manual install you should have unzipped Cosmos into the root wow folder. If done correctly you can then check to see if there are a few dozen addons located in the World of Warcraft\Interface\AddOns folder.
3. At the character selection screen, hit the AddOns button in the bottom left. If this is greyed out then the addons are not present. If you get a window of addons to appear (as you should), then you can enable/disable the addons on a character or server basis.

I tried the chatroom but its more lifeless than a PC. I think Im having the same problem. I cant get any of the add ons to work, there is not an add on button at character log in screen and every time I try to launch WoW using cosmos it tells me that a pathway doesnt exist. Ive extracted to the specified file. Ive enabled the add ons using cosmos patcher. Ive patched before starting WoW after its all been installed. I followed the directions at WoWwiki the best I could since its not laymen terms.
Starting to get irritated since I had Cosmos a long time ago and it worked fine. Right now Ill click the Download now! button. Install to the specified file. Turn on the add ons using Cosmos since an addon button isnt available at log in or character screen. Make sure the files are all unzipped.
Any other ideas :?:

The easiest way to install CosmosUI is just to unzip the package manually. You can get it from here (http://www.cosmosui.org/download.php?t=distros&f=Cosmos_Complete.zip). When you're asked for the path where to extract it you must point to the World of Warcraft install directory (usually C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft). Do ___NOT___ extract it at <WoWDir>\Interface\Addons.

The reason is that the zip has the following structure:

+ Interface
+ Addons
+ <AddonName1>
+ <AddonName2>
+ <AddonName3>
+ <AddonNameN>

And when you install it in the <WoWDir>/Interface/Addons/ it creates an "Interface" folder with a subfolder "Addons" in <WoWDir>/Interface/Addons. What i mean is that it becomes like this:

+ <WoWDir>
+ Interface
+ Addons
+ Interface
+ Addons
+ <AddonName1>
+ <AddonName2>
+ <AddonName3>
+ <AddonNameN>

And for WoW to accept an addon the addon must be placed exactly in <WoWDir>/Interface/Addons/ and not in any other subfolder.

So when you select the WoW install folder the zip file structure matches the WoW folder structure and the addons go to the right place.

Sounds messy but it's not so hard to understand. :)

About your patcher issue - i think you haven't selected the location of the WoW install folder and that's why it spits the error with the non existing pathway. To select the path open the patcher, click on "Configure" button, a window appears, in its upper part it's divided on tabs, click the "WoW" tab and then click the "Locate" button (look at the picture).

http://www2.imgshare.eu/i/pa317716.png

A pop up window will open, select the WoW install directory (as stated somewhere above usually it's C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft)

After you do so click "Ok" (the config window will disappear after you click it) and select "Install Cosmos" or "Patch Cosmos" button on the main patcher window (the name depends if it finds addons in <WoWDir>/Interface/Addons) and it should start connecting to the cosmos server for update/install. :)

Hope that helps.

PS: I know it's kinda long to read but once you get the idea how stuff works you'll be able to solve similar problems on your own and probably help others too! (right ?) :)

Think to edit the wiki with more info someday.
